Tank Removal
Improperly maintained storage tanks or tanks which are greater than 15 years old represent a potential for the release of petroleum hydrocarbons (fuel oil, waste oil, lubricating oils, gasoline) into the environment, which can lead to extensive environmental cleanups.
At BEA, we have considerable experience with the inspection and removal of aboveground storage tanks, as well as underground storage tanks. The vessels we service range from single tanks used to store home heating oil for a residential property to multiple vessels that may be associated with large industrial or commercial facilities and bulk distribution centers. BEA is certified by the Department of Fire Services, Office of the State Fire Marshal as a Third Party Inspector, and all removal operations are conducted in accordance with the new MassDEP UST regulations outlined in 310 CMR 80.00 and the Underground Storage Tank Closure Manual.
Our tank services further include oil spill cleanup activities or replacement facility design.
BEA has been proactive in the development and implementation of non-commercial tank regulations and providing compliance documentation for commercial fuel storage wherein the removal and replacement of fuel storage tanks advert or minimize releases to the environment.
If you have oil heat, please consider adding pollution coverage to your homeowners insurance policy. This coverage generally costs less than $100 per year, while fuel oil cleanup costs can range from $20,000 to $200,000 or more. For more information on pollution coverage as well as the Barnstable County 0% tank pull loan program please see our Company Newsletter.
